Mammography: Accommodating Positioning Challenges (0.5 credit hours)
The purpose of this module is to address positioning challenges frequently encountered in the clinical practice of mammography. Positioning tips are provided so that imaging quality is maintained for maximum diagnostic potential..Course approval expires March 1, 2010 Category A Credit.

This activity may be available in multiple formats or from different sponsors. The ARRT does not allow CE activities such as internet courses, home study programs or directed readings to be repeated for CE credit in the same or any subsequent biennium.

Leisa Arnold, BSRT, (R)(M)
Leisa Arnold serves as the Clinical Instructor and Continuing Education Coordinator for the Imaging Department of Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center and is a Clinical Instructor for Zane State College in Zanesville, Ohio. She holds certification in radiography and mammography. Ms. Arnold is actively involved in the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists (OSRT), having served as past recording secretary and many years of service as a board member. She also volunteers as the chief editor of Cardinal Rays, the OSRT bi-monthly newsletter.
Upon completion of the module, the learner should be able to:
  • Identify positioning challenges related to sthenic, aesthenic, and hypersthenic body types.
  • Identify positioning challenges related to breast habitus.
  • Identify positioning challenges encountered in patients with altered mental status and/or physical/mental disability.
  • Identify protocols and preferred projections for positioning challenging patients.
