Radiation Biology, Part 2: Cellular Radiation (1.5 credit hours)
Cellular Radiation is the second module of eight in the Radiobiology and Radiation Protection series. This module discusses cellular radiobiologic effects and includes: cell structure and biology, the principles of cell division, target theory, the effects of radiation on cells, and the radiosensitivity of cells.

Course Approval Expiration/End Date: July 1, 2011 Category A Credit

This module is adapted from Mosby's Radiography Online: Radiologic Physics, copyright © 2002 - 2004 by Elsevier (USA) reproduced by permission of Elsevier Inc. and edited for use as CE content by Denise Moore, Professor of Radiology, Sinclair Community College.
Upon completion of this module, the learner should be able to:
  1. Describe cell structure and function.
  2. Differentiate cell types and functions.
  3. Describe target theory.
  4. Describe the process of cell division for both somatic and genetic cells.
  5. Differentiate cell sensitivities to radiation.
  6. Describe how cells' interaction with radiation is predicted.
  7. Identify the Law of Bergonie and Tribondeau.
